The San Antonio Stars officially sign former Washington phenom Kelsey Plum

San Antonian basketball fans can stop holding their breath: 2017 WNBA No. 1 draft pick Kelsey Plum is now there to stay.

The San Antonio Stars revealed on Friday via Twitter that the former Washington point guard has officially signed with the franchise. There was speculation among basketball analysts that the Stars could have picked Plum for her trading-value, but the team finally handed her a contract to seal the deal.

Plum finished her senior season with the Washington Huskies as one of the sharpest shooters in the NCAA.  In February, the California native broke the Division I women’s basketball all-time scoring record with 3,397 points, and the following month, she broke the NCAA record for points in a single season with 1,080.

The San Antonio stars kick off their season opener on Saturday, May 13 against the New York Liberty.
