Sunday afternoon at Bankers Fieldhouse, more than 17,000 spectators and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the career of Tamika Catchings, the WNBA legend playing in her final regular season game.
“When you’ve had people who have been with you from the beginning,” Catchings said to the crowd, “and you end your journey, go on to the next step. It’s a blessing. It’s been a blessing to do this. It’s been a blessing to have all of you guys supporting me.”

True to form, Catchings had 16 points, seven rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block—and of course, Indiana won, beating the Dallas Wings 83-60. She’s guaranteed at least one more home game Wednesday night, when the Fever face the Mercury in the WNBA playoffs.
