Washington Spirit waives Crystal Thomas

Shortly after signing with the Washington Spirit, forward Crystal Thomas has been waived, the club announced on Friday.

Thomas signed with the Spirit on April 27, 2017 and has recorded one National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) appearance for the team since joining. The Elgin, Illnois native played against the Houston Dash on April 29 recording 30 minutes.

Thomas was on the Spirit’s first team throughout preseason and training camp, and before was called up to the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team training camp in January.

Her professional career followed after a decorate collegiate run where she scored 31 goals and added 17 assists during her time with Notre Dame and Georgetown.

The Washington Spirit will play FC Kansas City on Saturday, May 20 and U.S. WNT forward Mallory Pugh could make her professional debut.
