Track Olympian Sydney McLaughlin ran the fastest 400 meter split ever by a high school girl on Saturday.
In the second split of her leg of the Swedish Relay, McLaughlin ran a 49.85 split, which took her team, Union Catholic (NJ) from sixth to first. The Swedish Relay consists of 100, 200, 300 and 400 meter legs.
It was announced at the meet that it was believed to be the fastest 400 meter split ever by a high school girl. The split came from the meet timer’s fully automatic time system.

McLaughlin placed fifth in her semifinal the 400m hurdles at the 2016 Rio Olympics, failing to make the final.
