The Sonoma Stompers will add a third female player to their roster this summer, as catcher Anna Kimbrell will join the Independent League squad later this month.
Kimbrell, who has been involved with the U.S. women’s national baseball team since 2006, will join a team that already features outfielder Kelsie Whitmore and pitcher Stacy Piagno, who joined the Stompers in June.
The 25-year-old Kimbrell played Division I softball at Samford University before transferring to the University of Alabama-Birmingham, from where she graduated in 2013. She was a member of the 2008 Women’s Baseball World Cup squad that won a silver medal.
