Sky Blue FC’s Samantha Kerr voted NWSL Player of the Week

Sky Blue FC forward Samantha Kerr was voted NWSL Player of the Week by the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Media Association on Tuesday.

The Australian international scored two goals and picked up an assist for Sky Blue’s 3-1 victory over Portland Thorns FC in Week nine NWSL action on Saturday.

In May, Kerr was named NWSL Player of the Month after recording two goals and two assists. Now she has four goals and three assists so far this season and 15 goals total with Sky Blue FC. With 15 goals Kerr now holds Sky Blue’s all-time franchise record for goals. In her NWSL career she has 30 goals to date.

“We are delighted for Sam as she takes another step in her development,” Sky Blue FC head coach Christy Holly said in a team press release. “Sam continues to add different facets to her game and pushes herself to become one of the most respected strikers in the world game. We are very happy to see her receive this acknowledgement, and we as a team will keep pushing her and supporting her to become an even better version of herself.”

Honors continue to flow to Kerr who now has three NWSL Player of the Week nods.

Sky Blue FC will play the Chicago Red Stars on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. ET
