Sky Blue FC striker Sam Kerr has confirmed that she will return to play with her hometown club, Perth Glory, when the Australian W-League kicks off this winter, The Women’s Game reported on Tuesday.
Kerr, who is the second best scorer in the National Women Soccer League (NWSL), just came off of winning the Tournament of Nations with the Australian national team and is wrapping up her third season with Sky Blue.
In between NWSL seasons, Kerr has returned home to play in the W-League where she made her debut as a top-division soccer star in 2008. From there, she played three seasons with Perth Glory and scored five goals in 22 appearances. After two seasons with Sydney FC, Kerr returned to Perth in 2014 and has since then scored 22 goals in 27 appearances. The 23-year-old has yet to capture the W-League title.
Perth announced that it has signed fellow Matilda Nicola Bolger for the 2017-18 season as well. The midfielder will be moving from Sydney FC since playing with the club in 2012.

“I am a big believer that opportunities will come and go and sometimes it’s worth taking a risk and venturing down a different path,” Bolger told The Women’s Game. “But it was always a goal of mine to venture interstate in the W-League whenever the timing allowed it and I’m fortunate to be in a situation off the field that allows me to pursue this opportunity.”
Perth general manager Callum Salmon also said that a number of NWSL players will return to play for the club as well, but those names have yet to be revealed.
