On the eve of the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season, Portland Thorns FC announced the signing of defender Meghan Cox.
Cox played at the University of Virginia for three seasons from 2014 to 2016, and before played her freshman season at James Madison in 2013. Cox, 22, played in 67 matches at Virginia recording 50 starts. She tallied 11 goals and 10 assists over her career with the Cavaliers.
“We are excited to give Meghan this opportunity after a very strong preseason,” said head coach Mark Parsons in the club’s press release. “She brings a great range of passing and will provide depth along the backline.”
