In the 29th minute during the North Carolina Courage vs Chicago Red Stars march on Saturday, Courage defender Yuri Kawamura went down with an injury, which was confirmed on Friday as a right ACL and meniscus tear.
Kawamura will be out for the rest of the season, and will undergo surgery for the repair. On April 4, she signed with the Courage and has played in eight games, recording seven starts to date.
The 27-year-old has played with the Japanese national team since 2010 and has made 23 starts and chipped in two goals. She was a member of the team that finished in second place at the 2015 World Cup.
