Marshawn Lynch on playing a pregnant Serena Williams in tennis: ‘It’s an unfair advantage’

On Thursday, the Oakland Raiders starting running back Marshawn Lynch debuted his new show No Script on Facebook and it’s everything you might expect from the notorious jokester. The first episode, produced in partnership with Bleacher Report, features Lynch’s off-the-wall antics as he burns the tires off a race car.

But at the end of the episode, Lynch made a statement that might—emphasis on might—surprise sports fans.

The 31-year-old was meeting with his production crew to discuss new ideas when one of the crew members asked if he would ever play in a tennis match with “a super pregnant” Serena Williams. At the time that this episode was filmed, Williams had not yet given birth to her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

“That’s an unfair advantage,” he replied.

“That she’s pregnant?” the crew member asked.

“No, n***a that’s Serena Williams.”

The room responded with laughter at Lynch’s candid response, but he has a point.

With the most Grand Slam titles of any tennis player in the world (23), Williams is arguably one of the greatest athletes in history. And she won the 2017 Australian Open while pregnant. Maybe Lynch understood that pregnancy isn’t as much of a disadvantage as people tend to make it.
