Kelsey Plum is named AP WNBA Player of the Week

On Tuesday, the Associated Press announced that San Antonio Stars point guard Kelsey Plum is the WNBA Player of the Week.

Plum has been on fire for the Stars and had a particularly impressive three games against the New York Liberty, the Washington Mystics and the Seattle Storm last week. The 24-year-old averaged 14 points per game and six assists while helping the Stars earn their first three-game winning streak since 2015.

On Friday, Plum achieved a career-high 12 assists in a 76-74 victory over the Mystics. On Saturday, she notched another career high in points with 23 points on the board during San Antonio’s 87-80 overtime win over the Storm.

The former Washington Husky is only a rookie in the league, and she was the No. 1 pick at the 2017 WNBA Draft.

The Stars are ranked 12 out of 12 in the AP’s team power rankings this week, but they hope to keep the winning streak going when they travel to play the Chicago Sky on Thursday.
