Florida returns to top ranking in Coaches Poll, Florida State drops to No. 2

The University of Florida softball team hasn’t claimed the No. 1 spot in the USA Today/NFCA Division 1 Top 25 Coaches Poll since Feb. 14, but after a 4–1 week and big win over former-No. 1 Florida State, the Gators are back in the top spot this week.

The Gators last held the No. 1 position in the first poll of the season. The Seminoles, who had an eight-week run at the No. 1 spot, are now at No. 2.

The Gators collected 26 first-place votes after defeating then-No. 19 Georgia, Florida State and then-No. 21 Kentucky. Florida’s win over FSU snapped the Seminoles’ 24-game winning streak.
