Actress and United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson helped produce a short film about the fight for gender equality, highlighting women hurdlers in the 1964 Olympic Games.
The footage features Olympians as they sprint and hurdle through the final race of the Tokyo Games. The sprinting and jumping are representative of the adversity women have faced and continue to face for equality in and out of sports. Watson, who narrates the short film, has been an active voice for women’s rights. She has campaigned for gender equality and last week spoke at the U.N. General Assembly where she talked about campus sexual assault.
“Women and girls have always faced hurdles, but that has never stopped us,” Watson said in the film.
