Elina Svitolina will start fresh after one of the best years of her career in 2016.
According to the WTA, Svitolina will start the new year with a new team of coaches led by Gabriel Urpi, as well as coaching consultant Thierry Ascione and hitting partner Andrew Bettles.
Urpi has previously worked with former No.1 Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario during two of her four Grand Slam runs, as well as 1994 Wimbledon winner Conchita Martinez and Flavia Pennetta. While he worked with Pennetta, Urpi helped the Italian become the first woman from her country to crack the Top 10 when she accomplished the feat in 2009.
Both Urpi and Ascione are former ATP players. Meanwhile, Bettles is a former hitting partner of Ana Ivanovic.
Last year, Svitolina defeated both Serena Williams (Olympic tennis event) and Angelique Kerber (China Open) as she reached a career-high ranking of No. 14. She also reached the final of the Huajin Securities WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai.
Previously, Svitolina spent two-and-a-half years with Iain Hughes as her coach.
