Elena Delle Donne scored 21 points to lead the Washington Mystics to an 82-67 win over the Chicago Sky in Delle Donne’s return back to the Windy City.
After spending four seasons with the Sky, Delle Donne asked to be traded this offseason and went back to the D.C. area, where she is originally from. On Wednesday, the 2015 league MVP opened the scoring with a turnaround jumper from the free-throw line and also grabbed eight rebounds to help defeat her old team.
After a close opening three quarters, the Mystics finally pulled away at the beginning of the fourth quarter when they went on a 14-6 run. During that span, Delle Donne had six points, while Washington’s Ivory Latta and Natasha Cloud each added a 3-pointer.
Washington’s Tierra Ruffin-Pratt added 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Tianna Hawkins scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Cappie Pondexter led Chicago with 17 points and 10 assists.
