The Dallas Wings soared high on Wednesday night after defeating the Chicago Sky 99-96 to secure its first playoff berth since moving to Dallas in 2016.
All-Star guard Skylar Diggins-Smith finished with 28 points and eight assists, while forward Glory Johnson had 25 points. As Dallas (16-17) outrebounded Chicago (12-20) 40-28, Johnson grabbed nine rebounds in the game.
“I’ve said all along, we’re a relentless team, we don’t give up. We were down by 13 at one point in the first half,” said head coach Fred Williams after the game. “I told them at halftime, just stay with it, keep pushing the ball and make plays on defense.”

For Chicago, Allison Quigley, Jessica Breland, and Stefanie Dolson led the way. With two games remaining, the Sky trail the Seattle Storm by two games for the final playoff spot. If Chicago wins its final two games and Seattle loses out, the Sky will claim the final playoff spot.
The first round of the playoffs takes place next week, as two teams will advance to play the New York Liberty or Connecticut Sun on Sunday, September 10. The Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks have clinched byes into the semifinal round.
