Caroline Garcia bounced back after losing the first set to win the Wuhan Open against Ashleigh Barty 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. This was the first title in 2017 for the 23-year-old Garcia, and the biggest one of her four career championships.

“It was a such a fight all the week and especially today,” Garcia said. “A title is the best thing you can have in tennis, that’s why you fight all year long. I’m over the moon.”
Both the French Garcia and Barty were unseeded in the event, but Garcia came in ranked No. 20 in the world compared to No. 37 for Barty. The Australian Barty had two serves to win the match but could not finish.
It was an impressive week for the 21-year-old Barty who beat four top 20 players including Karolina Pliskova and Johanna Konta.
