Brittney Griner scored a career-high 38 points to lead the Phoenix Mercury to a 98-90 overtime win over the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night.
Griner, who averages 22 points, also scored eight of Phoenix’s first 10 points in overtime. She scored 23 points in the first half before playing limited minutes in the third quarter due to foul trouble.
With 45.6 seconds left in regulation, Griner hit a hook shot while surrounded by three defenders to give Phoenix a 78-76 lead. But Indiana’s Erica Wheeler tied it up to send the game to overtime.
In addition to Griner’s career-night, Taurasi also scored 17 points for Phoenix. Griner also had nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Wheeler led Indiana with a career-high 24 points, while Candice Dupree scored 23 points.
