Boston Pride re-sign forward Jordan Smelker for third season in the NWHL

The Boston Pride announced on Tuesday that the club has re-signed forward Jordan Smelker for the third year in a row in the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL).

The 2016 league champion is returning to Boston in hopes of redeeming the Pride’s Isobel Cup glory. The Pride lost the championship trophy to the Buffalo Beauts in March.

“I love this team and this league, but the biggest motivator in coming back for a third season is getting the Isobel Cup back to Boston,” said Smelker.

The 24-year-old from Anchorage, Alaska has 39 games across two seasons with the Pride. Smelker has scored 12 goals with 17 assists to earn 29 points in her professional career. In 2015, she won gold with Team USA at the Four Nations Cup and won the Clarkson’s Cup with the Boston Blades in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL).
