Fresh off a European stint with Lyon, Alex Morgan is happy to be back with the Orlando Pride.
Morgan returned to Orlando last week after helping Lyon to the Champions League title earlier this month. On Friday, Morgan told the Orlando Sentinel that while she loved her time in France, she is excited to be “home.”
“The girls were amazing, my team was really awesome and welcoming, but there’s nothing like my family,” Morgan said. “I just missed everything about Orlando and just that feeling of being home. Just being part of a community that I’m used to, that I’m comfortable with, that I feel absolutely at home with.
“I’ve missed this team a lot.”
Morgan said that, while in France, she kept in touch with her Pride teammates and would stay up late to watch Orlando’s games.
Morgan also said that she’s glad she took the opportunity to play in France, “but it was a five months I’m happy I did and now I’m ready to get back and get started with the Pride.”
The 27-year-old was also asked if she hopes to take another stint overseas in the future.
“I don’t know,” she said. “Right now, I’m really happy with what I accomplished and with what the team accomplished in France, but I’m thinking about this season with the Pride. . . . I’m really just focused on the Pride right now.”

During the Champions League Final against Paris St. Germain, Morgan injured her hamstring, and Orlando announced on June 13 that the club hopes the USWNT star will be back in the lineup in three to four weeks, depending on how quickly she recovers.
“I have my own personal goals, but I want to make sure I’m 100 percent and ready to go before I put myself in a vulnerable position,” she said. “I made a commitment at the time … that I would be back after the transfer window opened. I always was going to stick to that.”
Orlando defeated the Houston Dash 4-2 Saturday night in fellow-USWNT star Carli Lloyd’s return to Houston from Manchester City. The Pride and Dash will face each other in a rematch this Saturday.
